FOSTER
UPDATE 9/30/2010
Some
perspective adopters came over to look at a different foster dog that is
at my house and Callie Jo just about made a fool of herself trying to
impress them. She trotted around behind the three year old, she
shook her toys around for them to see, she posed for pictures, she
pushed in to get petted. When we went outside she showed them how
she likes to sit on the steps in the pool and after getting out scooted
all over the yard in high gear. She is getting more and more
comfortable in the house now, too. She likes to sit in one of my
wing-back chairs and she hasn't had an accident in over a week.
She still has not had any more seizures thanks to her medication, which
she takes very nicely. Don't let this medical issue scare you off.
Callie Jo is a great girl!
FOSTER
UPDATE 9/14/2010
Callie Jo is a WONDERFUL dog.
She has adjusted to the seizure medication beautifully and is
doing very well, no more seizures at all.
I think she must have been an outside dog before coming to MAGRR.
She loves being inside and doesn’t want to be left out.
At first I had to walk over to the grass with her at potty time
but now she trusts me to let her back in and I don’t have to go with
her. She gets along with
all my other dogs but only interacts with them occasionally.
Velcro could be her middle name as she loves to be right by you
and cannot get enough love.
She loves, loves, loves the toys.
She enjoys picking them out of the toy bucket, shaking them,
growling at them, tossing them around and chewing on them.
She is good about sharing and is not possessive with them at all.
I think she didn’t have many toys before and only had her tail to
play with as sometimes she will chase her tail then roll over on her
back and chew on it. She
takes treats very gently, she knows sit and shake and she rides nicely
in the car. She has
recently learned to get up on my bed and is very pleased about that.
I have found her curled up in the covers several times.
She will counter surf but is learning not to do that.
I am also learning not to leave the bread on the counter.
She is also learning to be housebroken.
She does well if I stay on a “go out” schedule but does have
occasional accidents. She
is doing so much better that I feel she will master this soon.
Callie is such a fabulous dog I hope you will look past her
medical issue and consider what a wonderful companion she will be.

MEDICAL
UPDATE 8/21/2010
Callie Jo had several
seizures while in the hospital, so was put on Phenobarbital for
seizures. She has gone to her foster where she is adjusting to the
medication and is doing better. No more seizures and she is even
starting to play a bit. She is learning her way as a family member
and not having to fend for herself. She is such a sweetheart and
she deserves to live out her life with love and affection. If you
are in the Memphis are, wouldn't you like to give her that and MAGRR
will take care of her medical issues.
INTAKE
REPORT 8/11/2010
Callie was found
wandering around in a neighborhood almost dehydrated from the hot August
heat. She was so weak that she could hardly stand. Her fur
was matted and she was so so miserable. Two wonderful people got
her and clipped the mats from her fur and gave her a nice soothing bath.
They demonstrated love and affection to this sweet girl. She was
taken to our vet clinic where she was checked out. It appears that
she just has some bad arthritis which will be so much better once
she is on medication. Watch as her sad face turns to smiles as she
gets a peak at her life with MAGRR.
