FOSTER UPDATE 7/14/2010
Shelly is doing well. She's as sweet as can be.
She loves to be near us and is constantly at our feet. She's slowly
learning to lie down and relax. She loves being around our golden,
but is very scared of our cat. She is indifferent to storms. She does
not go up or down stairs, and has yet to bark. I wonder if she has some
hearing/vision loss as she doesn't seem to be very responsive to stimuli
(e.g. recent thunderstorms). We're making progress with house training,
but are still having occasional accidents. She's almost done with all of
her medications and her ear infection seems to have cleared up. She is
still very skinny but is enjoying 4-5 small meals a day. We can't wait
to see more of her real personality as she puts on weight and feels
better!
Intake Report 6/19/2010
Shelly came to us from a terrible hoarding situation along with
6 other goldens. They had been kept mainly in a basement in crates
and only let out as needed for potty breaks. They were originally
used for breeding. Because of their past lives, they are a bit
stressed and are most comfortable in their crates. They are slowly
learning to interact with people and get along fine with other dogs.
Most of them are on the thin side and are benefiting from more exercise
to strengthen their muscles. More on these sweet kids when they
have spent some time in their foster homes. All are improving
quickly.
