FOSTER
UPDATE 7/2/2012
Hi, Traveler here. I’m just writing to let you know how I’m doing
these days. Life has been really good since I became a MAGRR Golden.
I’ve been living with my foster Mom in mid-town for about four months
now. We have a blast. She calls me her “silly velcro golden drop”
because I just love to cuddle on the couch and watch movies. My hearing
is not so good, but I really like to watch the pictures. I also know
hand signals like come, sit, stay, and down, so not hearing so well
isn’t a really a big problem for me. A big raw hide chew on my doggie
bed during the day keeps me pretty busy. I also have a toy box full of
soft toys, and I offer one to everyone who comes over. I really look
forward to a little walk in the afternoon and love to play with my dog
friends a couple of blocks over. Oscar, the Standard Poodle, is my
favorite buddy. I like all dogs and even little children, but I do not
care for cats at all. Getting brushed is also one of my favorite things
to do in the afternoon. Sometimes we go to the park in the car. I’ve
been trying to decide which I like better… the car or the park… because
I just love short rides in the car! I have lamb and brown rice food
every morning and evening, and I keep working on this thing called
“counter surfing”, but it all just looks sooo good. Everyone tells me I
am a “very good boy.” I have a lot of friends, and I’d sure love to meet
you.
Best regards, Traveler
FOSTER
UPDATE 2/16/2012
I have been fostering
Traveler for over a month and cannot even begin to tell you how sweet
and loving he is. He is approximately 7 but has the energy and
playfulness of a 2-year old. He greets me with a stuffed toy every day
when I get home from work. He loves attention and will sit next to you
and raise his paw for affection. He is completely potty trained (had an
accident the first day I got him, but no more thereafter). He does great
all day in the house while I’m at work and would not do well in a crate.
He gets along great with other dogs and loves to play fetch and/or play
with his toys, go on walks and absolutely loves the water and being
outdoors. He tends to be a counter surfer but we have been working on
his manners. I also noticed that he has a bit of hearing loss. He would
be great with a family that has a big backyard and other dogs in which
he could run and play. He will be such a great addition to a family that
can provide him the love and attention that he has never had, yet needs
so much!
INTAKE
REPORT 1/7/2012
Traveler came to us yesterday as a stray and he had been out on the
streets for several days. A volunteer went and picked him up and
got him to us. He is in terrible shape, and appears to be an older
gentleman, 7ish years old. He has fluid buildup in his chest area
behind his shoulder blades which makes him look like he has wings, but
our doctors will have that taken care of in no time. He was so
very sweet and loving and seemed to be happy that he was with people
again. He rode great in the car all the way here. He was very
dirty and will get a much needed good scrub! He is going to make
some lucky family a wonderful new member.
