INTAKE REPORT 4/1/08
MAGRR's Arkansas Coordinator was contacted by her vet who does our rescue work.
He had a client who has surrendered her 8 yo AKC Golden Retriever named Midas.
He is a neutered male with several health issues. Midas was in boarding
for over a month. With his health issues and the stress of boarding, he has
become depressed and declining in health. Midas needs to go to a special needs
rescue or Golden Retriever rescue. If MAGRR had not stepped in, Midas
would have been euthanized. Midas is currently on medication for a seizure
disorder and he also takes a daily pill for low thyroid. Both of these
medications are fairly inexpensive. His real issue is he is an insulin dependent
diabetic dog. He has to have daily insulin injections (these are very simple to
do and he doesn't mind them at all) and he must live indoors. It is too
stressful for him to live outside and this would add to his health problems
therefore making it necessary for his owner to surrender him. He is such a
sweet boy and just wants to live out his life in the comfort of a loving home.
