FOSTER UPDATE 5/6/08
Presley is doing very well...he is very sweet and smart. House broken
and good in general at obedience. He is not too good off-leach
yet...but he'll improve. He is still skittish, a little afraid of
everything new, but with time he learns to trust people and other
dogs... Dr. Magnum was concerned that he would have problems socializing
with other dogs as he would growl at them. He still does that but
responds well to correction. With our dogs they met outside and we took
them for a long walk for them to meet. Presley is very good friend with
our dogs. Actually, we think he'd like to live with other dog(s) with
whom he is compatible.
(Presley, center, hangs out with Cuatro & Chiquita all the time)
He has done great with other dogs , big and small, again, growls at
first, but later they are best pals. He did not do so well with another
skittish, over-protected female, she would be a cry baby and Presley
would get very anxious.
If he is going to live with other dogs, they should be of normal, well
balanced behavior. He has a mild chewing problem, he tried some
furniture corners at first but learned to stay away....after that he
went for Martha's snickers...now he mostly stays with the toys. We
think the chewing is under control. We said that he is very sweet
and has a way of getting away with things...he soon discovered that the
best seat in the house is not on the floor and it's been difficult to
keep him off the bed...where he looks so peaceful.

His health is good. We have not found new ticks. He is very active
despite being HW+. Sometimes he briefly coughs or sneezes, probably HW
related. He has 2 more weeks to go on low-activity(tough task).
Intake Report 4/16/08
Presley
and his brother Elvis were abandoned on the Natchez Parkway (a
beautiful Federal Parkway that goes from Natchez, MS to Nashville) near
Tupelo hence the names. They are young males, obviously brothers, as
they are identical other than Elvis being blonder than Presley. They
are both sweet but timid and unsure. Covered in ticks, very thin and
dirty. They traveled like a dream - just lay down. They had to be
dragged into the vet clinic and then just laid on the floor refusing to
move. It appears they haven’t had any training or much human contact and
have probably been living rough for a while. The lady who found then
had advertised them but no one claimed. They are nice friendly boys,
smallish will probably end up weight about 55lbs, both very cute. The
lady did say they got into it a bit over the food that they left out so
need to be fed away from other dogs at first but this is probably due to
having to scrap for their food. More after they are cleaned up and
treated and go to their foster homes.
