Millie Bonds
Loved by Rick, Alisa & Kelsey Bonds

"Millie was a part of our life for almost 10 years. She loved to chase the birds and squirrels and protect our house and yard. She loved to play ball and go for rides in the car. She will be missed very much, but we know she is in heaven now feeling better."
My sweet boy,
Even though you are running at the rainbow bridge, free from pain and the ability to hear all that's around you, I miss you and wish you were still with us. I think of you every time I look at your empty bed and bowls, at your favorite spot in the kitchen, and at the fence you "helped" paint.
The silence when the morning alarm is going off or when its feeding time makes me remember your goofy, can-you-hear-me bark.Sutton, you taught me patience, kindness, appreciation for the simple things in life, and how to love and care for an elder - who was always a pup at heart. Your sweet spirit, joy for life, and helicopter tail will never be forgotten. I believe you are my guardian angel dog, sent to love me on Earth and now watching over me from Heaven.Thank you my dear boy, I love you and miss you-

Your foster mom,
Stacey

Harry Villiotte

Harry was loved very much by his family. He will be remembered for his big happy smile, wagging tail, and constant presence as the big speed bump in the kitchen, sleeping right in the middle of everything!

God Speed Sweet Boy!

Skye touched the hearts of everyone at MAGRR. Having spent a large part of her life neglected and unloved, we watched as her foster family helped her bloom into a beautiful, happy Golden. Paw in hand, the Jeffrey family was with Skye every step of the way; they saw her through hip surgery, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and embraced her as her journey came to an end. She will forever be loved and missed by the Jeffrey family.

Bear Simmons

Beloved MAGRR mascot.

Part Golden, part Human, part Storybook Character.

In our hearts, you will live forever.

Rocky was loved dearly by his foster mom, Courtney, who made the last four years of his life his very best ones. He was a great therapy dog who often visited the village at Kirby Pines. He really loved elderly people!Rocky only barked at his Mom when she dared to eat without sharing a bite with him. He will be missed so much by Courtney and his foster sister, Chessie.

wonderful and very pampered life.  Her
beautiful, smiling face brought great joy and
love to her family.  They miss her very much.

Fly with the Angels Sweet Pasta Girl!

Blue was found infested with ticks and with burns all over his body in downtown Baltimore.  His family took him and healed his body and his soul.  He was the true epitome of a Gentle Giant, and will be greatly missed by his family.

God speed sweet Blue!

Worthy McHugh

Worthy was adopted by the McHugh Family in 2002. He was one of the lucky ones who was loved and adored by his humans and in typical Golden style, he returned that love many times over.  He will always be remembered and hold a piece of their hearts until they meet again. God Speed Sweet Worthy!

Rosie was one of the lucky ones
that was saved and found her special "forever" home.  We know that she is eating all of the socks she wants as she waits at the Rainbow Bridge for her family. God Speed Sweet Angel!

Sunshine's Poem by her First Foster Mom
Missy Brown  July 2000

I got Sunshine on a cloudy day
and now her troubles are melting away.
As our time together is drawing nigh,
I look into chocolate eyes and sigh.

Gone is the look of hurt and sorrow,
replaced now with hope for tomorrow.
Her golden tail, once hung in shame
is high and proud and knows no blame.

Her soft pink tongue grazes my cheek.
"My, Has it already been a week?!?!"
She nudges my hand with her wet nose
as my bittersweet love for her still grows.

Sunshine came to me, quite insecure
"Can I trust her?" She wasn't sure.
But with love and patience and a gentle touch
I have emptied her heart of oh, so much.

I have emptied her heart of guilt and shame
Of scorn, neglect, and too much pain.
Her heart is now empty of all those things
and open to all that love can bring.

As I look at her, I can only pray
So with tears and trembling lip, I say,
"God, watch over this precious girl,
and keep her safe in this ugly world."

"Give her some place to call her own
and a family, a yard, a promise, a home.
May she never again spend a day alone,
God, give her the love she's never known"

Our time together is fading away.
and tomorrow brings another day.
Maybe tomorrow's day will be the one

This poem is reproduced in all of MAGRR's Foster Booklets as a tribute to what fostering is all about. It is dedicated to Sunshine.

Sunshine's Farewell
Dedicated to Phyl Simmons

No long goodbyes, No bags to fetch,
You see I had a flight to catch.
Right now you must be feeling blue,
For you loved me as I loved you.
So many Goldens you paved the way,
but it was me you asked to stay,

I was your sun, you hung the moon
And I promise you will see me soon,
In the timid eyes of a Golden girl,
Alone and frightened by this cruel world.

And you will help, as you did for me,
To give her love and a family.
So kiss my siblings and hug my dad
And tell that Bear not to be sad!

My story ended happily,
A part of you, I'll always be.
So dry your eyes Mom, get back on your feet,
The Bear is barking for a treat!

Your MAGRR friends will see you through,
There are many Goldens depending on you!

And each time the sun smiles down through the clouds
Know that I am with you and I'm very very proud.

Toby Deis

God speed sweet Toby!

A beautiful dog, the ultimate Golden Retriever...

Toby found his forever home with the Deis Family in November 2002 where he loved his life of swimming and chasing tennis balls.  He succumbed suddenly to peritonitis due to an intestinal perforation.  He will be forever loved and missed by his family until they meet again.

Boogs and Sass found themselves in the rescue program when their owner passed away. They were inseparable, and for that reason, Lisa Hicks decided to adopt them both. They were hers for eight wonderful years until they were called to the Bridge and left this world within just a few weeks of one another.
