The following was written by Oliver's (human) foster sister about
how he must have felt while he was at the animal shelter...
 

I loved the flowers growing in the garden
I loved the children's laughter, happy and gay
I loved the gatherings you held,
So many people to touch and love me.
But now that's gone, what did I do to make you hate me?
Did I bark too much, too often?
Did my lying in the flowers upset you so?
No need to worry about your flowers now,
Cause now I'm lying on a cold, concrete floor.
This is what you did to me because you didn't want me,
But soon I'll find a new home with kids to play with
With a family, who loves me!
