SURRENDER A GOLDEN RETRIEVER
Important note: MAGRR cannot accept any dog with
a history of aggression toward people.
MAGRR understands
that circumstances can arise in which an owner may no longer be able to care
for his Golden. We respect and applaud
your decision to give your Golden Retriever a second chance at a happy life.
Since 2001, we have placed more
than 900 Golden Retrievers into loving homes. We have only the best
intentions for the dogs in our program. MAGRR is a safe and reassuring
alternative to listing your Golden on the internet, in the newspaper, or
abandoning him/her at the pound. Through our extensive application and home visit
procedures, all MAGRR adopters are carefully screened and matched according
to the individual needs of the dog. MAGRR always has the Golden's best interest at heart.
We will never release any of our dogs to shelters. You can feel confident
that MAGRR will find the best possible home for your Golden Retriever.
Upon entry into our program, a
MAGRR Golden receives a thorough examination from our veterinarians,
including blood work, any necessary vaccinations, treatment, medication,
and/or surgeries before going to a foster home. We supply monthly heartworm
and flea preventative for every Golden in our care. On average, MAGRR spends
$508 per Golden, to ensure that each is healthy, happy, and ready to be
adopted. We are
a NON-profit organization, and for this reason, we ask that you make a small
(tax-deductible) donation when turning your dog over to us.
This will defray some of the expenses
and enable us to continue saving Goldens in Memphis and surrounding areas.
MAGRR
has never refused a Golden when the owner could not afford a donation, pay
for veterinary care, or provide proof of vaccinations, but please remember
that it is the generosity of our donors that allows us to rescue, provide
care, and find happy homes for our Goldens. If you cannot make a donation at
the time of surrender, perhaps you will remember us at a later date.
It
is important for MAGRR to possess as much knowledge as possible regarding
the needs of your Golden. Any information or documentation
pertaining to your dog's health will allow for a smoother transition into our
program.
